You can apply it to floors, furniture, stairs… And our oil is also ideal for worktops and other surfaces where food is involved. We can say that Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is Fit for Food. But what does that mean? As we have the toy standard, we also want to make sure that our Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C can be used on wood that comes into contact with food. That’s why Eurofins provided us the Fit for Food declaration: Fit for Food ensures full compliance with the harmonized legislative requirements in Europe for all types of food contact materials. Manufacturing and testing of products for food contact are often handled as a necessity due to legislative requirements or market demands. We can from now on state that, if Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (A+B) is used on a wooden surface that is in itself food safe, then the combination of the wood and our Oil Plus 2C is also safe and therefore ‘Fit for Food’, in regulation with EC n° 1935/2004. This declaration is the result of an official test, done by Eurofins, an official independent testing institute. In practice, ‘Fit for Food” means that kitchen worktops, tabletops, serving bowls etc. that have been treated with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C are also safe for household use which becomes more and more a recommendation for a lot of projects.

Molecular bonding Rubio Monocoat is THE reference when it comes to innovation and high quality, environment-friendly wood protection. Thanks to the molecular bonding characteristic, Rubio Monocoat Oil is not deeply soaked by the wood fibres, instead of that it compounds itself in the upper area of the surface but does not create any film or top layer. Only one Layer First Layer Second Layer Rubio Monocoat Oil Traditional Hardwachs Oil Due to this characteristic, it is possible to protect 30-50 m2 per litre, in industrial applications up to 70 m2 per litre. ​ Another significant advantage is the overlapping free handling. This preserves the unique natural look and feel of the protected wood surface. Characteristics of Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C: ​ ​ Durable protection by molecular bonding: The unique formula creates a molecular bonding between the oil and the wood fibres. The result is a durable, long-lasting wood surface protection that keeps the natural touch of the wood. ​ ​ One single Layer - Mono Coat: Thanks to our technology, the consumption is much lower than for a traditional system. This results in durable colouring and protection in one single layer. Once the fibres are bonded with the oil, the wood doesn’t absorb any surplus product – which makes a second layer superfluous. ​ ​ Unique colors: The unique Rubio Monocoat oil pigment technology allows an intense and deep colouring in one single layer, without compromising the natural look and feel of the wood. ​ ​ No overlap: Once all free cellulose fibres are molecularly bonded, surplus product will no longer be accepted by the wood or the bonded Rubio Monocoat layer itself. This is why overlaps or starting marks are avoided. ​ ​ Easy to maintain and repair: Surfaces treated with Rubio Monocoat oil are easy to maintain, and isolated scratches or damaged areas are very easy to repair because no overlaps will be visible. ​ ​ Natural ingredience VOC-free: Rubio Monocoat oil doesn't contain any water or solvents and is based on natural ingredients.
